The Imitation Game

I'll preface this by saying I am not a movie reviewer in any way shape or form - clearly.

We saw The Imitation Game last night, and I really enjoyed it. I feel like I have been swamped with movies about world war 2 in recent times (does anyone else think Brad Pitt has typecast himself a bit maybe?) but this was a completely different angle, and based on a true story (which I had never heard about before).

Without giving it away, the story follows Alan Turing (played by the amazing Benedict Cumberbatch) through different stages in his life, the main part being where he is trying to crack the enigma used by the Germans to encrypt their messages in the war. It has a sad ending, and the fact that it is a true story makes it all the more tragic.

It was a nice change from the typical WW2 movie, and it was really interesting learning about different parts of history. This is definitely a movie I would recommend going and seeing.

I give it 4.5/5 stars
